Inhalt:
The course Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) lays the necessary foundations
for this course. The aim of this course is to deepen the topic HC3 of the
HCI course:
· HC3 Human-Centered Software Evaluation: overview about the
main usability evaluation methods and techniques (e.g. observing users,
asking users, asking experts, user testing, modeling users task performance).
Evaluation is the process of systematically collecting data that informs
designer about what it is like for a particular user group to use an interactive
product for a particular task in a certain type of environment. Evaluation
is a core activity in Usability Engineering and a lot of different well-established
evaluation methods are available now (e.g. heuristic or expert evaluation,
usability testing in a lab, field studies, questionnaires). After a comprehensive
presentation of a variety of evaluation methods and techniques, the students
will evaluate different interactive products using different evaluation
approaches. One important part of this course is, that the students can
make use of a usability lab to gain their own experience how to conduct
usability testing. Basics about experimental design will also be part of
this course (e.g. how to formulate hypothesis, what are dependent and independent
variables, how to set up experimental conditions, allocation of participants).
