16 March 2007 Call for Papers: IDA 2007 - the seventh international symposium on Intelligent Data Analysis will take place in Ljubljana, Slovenia on September 6-8, 2007 under the auspices of the IDA council. 24. Jun. 2005 Bernd Wiswedel has won the Best Student Paper Award at this year's NAFIPS conference with his paper entitled "Fuzzy Clustering in Parallel Universes". His paper was selected out of 33 qualified student papers!

Zadeh, the inventor of Fuzzy Logic, held a talk for the Dept. of Computer and Information Science's Colloquim, entitled "Fuzzy Logic Systems: Origin, Concepts and Trends". Read the talk here. Oct. 2004 Thorsten Meinl, a student of our Tripos Research Lab has won this year's Student Best Paper Award at the Annual IEEE Conference on System, Man, and Cybernetics with his paper entitled "Hybrid Fragment Mining with MoFa and FSG". His paper was selected out of 148 student paper submissions!

21. Apr. 2004 In April 2004, the public inaugural lecture by Prof. Dr. Michael Berthold, discussing "Explorative Knowledge Discovery in Bioinformatics," took place.
Mar. 2004 In March 2004, Dr. Giuseppe Di Fatta (University of Palermo) joined the group as a visiting professor. He will be teaching a class on Computer Networks in summer 2004 and conducting research on molecular data analysis using Distributed Computing.

Okt. 2003 In October 2003, the new chair for Applied Computer Science, Bioinformatics and Information Mining, commenced operations. The chair has been endowed by Nycomed AG and is headed by Michael Berthold, formerly director of Data Analysis at the Tripos Research Lab in California.
