The workshop focuses on the emerging field of high performance, distributed, parallel and grid-based data mining methods and their applications and potential applications in Life Sciences. The workshop is aimed at bringing together ideas and research efforts from the various areas of distributed computing and data mining to converge towards large-scale and high performance applications in Computational Life Science.
The growing amount of available data in Life Sciences requires efficient data mining algorithms. Large-scale distributed computing infrastructures and highly-scalable algorithms are required to make the whole knowledge discovery process scalable and interactive.
Life Science applications are very demanding in terms of computing and storage requirements. The emergence of grid architectures and standards provide access to an unprecedented amount of computing resources. Distributed and high-performance approaches are becoming an essential component in data mining and data exploration in Life Sciences.
