PhD Studentship in Software Analysis, Data Mining and Visualization
The University of Konstanz has an immediately available opening for a PhD Studentship in the area of Software Analysis, Data Mining and Visualization. The successful candidate will become a member of the
DFG-funded PhD program (Graduiertenkolleg) "Explorative Analysis and Visualization of Large Information Spaces". She or he will be supervised by two Professors of the Department of Computer and Information Science, with Prof. Stefan Leue as the primary supervisor. The PhD research will address the use of data mining and visualization techniques in support of the formal analysis of software systems.
The employment will initially be for one year on a 2/3 position according to the German public service pay scale TVL-E13, with the possibility of an extension by up to two more years. There are no tuition fees levied for members of the PhD program. The PhD program provides for ample travel funding, an international working atmosphere, regular Spring and Fall schools, and frequent extra-curricular activities.
Konstanz is located in the highly attractive Lake Constance (Bodensee) area at the southern rim of Germany. Lake Constance offers splendid recreational opportunities, and the Black Forest as well as the Swiss and Austrian Alps are within easy reach. The closest city with an international airport is Zurich (Switzerland), reachable within about 60 minutes by train. The University of Konstanz is a mid-sized (appr. 9000 students), research-oriented University and has been selected in 2007 as a University of Excellence by the German government.
